Visions of Cocktails and Non-Maternity Wear Dance in My Head

Dying to try this recipe, it may be called the Autumn Colors Cocktail but it sounds perfect for summer and deliciously Southern to me!

Ingredients:
1 1/4 oz. vodka
3/4 oz. pomegranate liqueur
1/2 cup sweet ice tea
1/4 tsp. grated orange zest
Preparation:
Place all ingredients into a shaker and shake. Pour over ice in a glass and garnish with a lime.

This blog would not be "me" if I didn't add my fashion picks. I'm planning to start a section called "Pile 'O Style." Here is a sneak peek of a few of my must haves for summer...

A comfy shirt, great to throw on as a beach cover-up or to dress up and wear to dinner

The perfect khaki shorts - not too short, not too long

and of course...a pair of Toms. Do you know about Toms? If not, you are missing out. First of all, they are so ridiculously comfortable. Second, and most important, for every pair you purchase Toms will give a pair of shoes to a child in need. It's such a great cause and I was more than stoked when they started making wedges last year!

Wait...A Mommy?

Yep, that's right. Just when I was starting to get used to this whole wife thing, we decided to take it one step further. In just a few days, my Marine and I will be joining the ranks of parenthood. In fact, you can thank my pregnancy insomnia for the creation of this blog.

At 2:00am, on a Friday night Saturday morning, with my Marine and dog snoring peacfully beside me I decided that I needed a creative outlet to share my random thoughts, style picks (as I dream of wearing non-maternity clothes), and day to day hum drum of this Marine wife.

If you know me at all, you know how ridiculously random I am, which should keep things interesting. Join me, on this new adventure! Comment, make suggestions (nice ones), ask questions, laugh, and wonder just what the heck I am talking about. Enjoy the ride!

Oh, What A Ride It's Been!

"The times they are a-changin" - Bob Dylan

You can bet your britches they are, Mr. Dylan. In less than two years, I have gone from being a carefree "single gal," living in the Big D to being a Mrs., a wife...not just any wife but a military wife to one heckuva Marine. I traded late night cocktails for not as late night conversations with a real live husband, MY husband. My cubicle-bound corporate job? No more! Now I am navigating the lanes of Target and clipping coupons with the expertise of a seasoned housewife. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Do I ever miss those days? Of course; but when I look back on them I realize that what I miss most isn't being single. It's being able to fit in my size 4 designer jeans and killer heels. My size NOT 4 Mossimo jeans and flats...just ain't doin it for me these days.

Eh, my old wardrobe is a goal for me to strive towards. I have a degree in fashion, just because I'm a wife and soon-to-be mommy doesn't mean that I have to compromise my style...does it? I say, heck no!

New Adventures

If you're reading this... it means I'm not talking to myself...which is exciting but I talk to myself all the time so no biggie.
